Ayushi Bleaching
Earth is the most important agent for Bleaching and Decolourising de-gummed and Alkali Refined oils by adsorption. In the process of bleaching Ayushi Bleaching Earth is used alone with activated carbon to remove colour, gums, resins and other impurities present in the oily adsorption due to their High Surface Activities, while having no effect on the composition of the oil so treated.

Application of
Bleaching Earth Broadly speaking,
Activated Bleaching Earth finds use in following fields.
1. Refining of Vegetable oils like : Cottonseed, Soyabean, Sunflower, Rapeseed,
Mustard, Peanut, Coconut, Corn, Olive, Ricebran, Palm, Palm-kernel, Linseed,
Castor, Jajoba & Canola oils.
2. Refining of hydrogenated vanaspati ghee oils, Margarine & shortening.
3. Refining of Animal Fats like tallow oil, fish oil, lard oil.
4. Refining of Mineral Oils like :
- paraffins and waxes
- insulating oil
- rolling oil
- white oil
- waste oil (lubricating oil)
- industrial triglycerides and fatty acids used for paints, varnishes and soaps.
5. Other applications like :
- solvents (for dry cleaning)
- bleaching of sulphur
- effluent treatment plants
Process
The material to be processed is filtered through column of granular attapulgite clay which has been heat activated usually between
300oc to 600oc the rate of percolation, temperature of operation and optimum temperature of activation of attapulgite are variable which should be determined experimentally for a specific application.
The material to be treated is mixed with Amgeen attapulgite and slurry stirred for period of five to thirty minutes at elevated temperature under vacuum. The treated product is recovered by filtering through a plate and frame or
continues type of filter for optimum result, the amount of attapulgite clay used the
temperature and the time of treatment should be determined by experiment.
